The redevelopment plan for the Thistle Hotel site on Poole Quay has been finalised and lodged with BCP council.
The “Fisherman’s Dock” scheme was unveiled by MHA London in May. The plans include a new 118-bed boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar on the top floor and 228 apartments. A proposed 8,600 sq.ft of commercial space will also be available for leisure and retail use. The developers said the plans would be “transformational” for the area.
The site including the Thistle Hotel, derelict land and car park has been the subject of four failed planning applications in 2004, 2008 and 2009. It is now allocated in the Poole Local Plan for a hotel and new housing.
Hossein Abedinzadeh, Founder of MHA commented: “This project is inspired by the rich history of the site and its local surroundings; not only will Fisherman’s Dock regenerate this part of Poole, it will also give back to the local community with the provision of valuable homes and employment opportunities. This fantastic project will embrace the heritage of the site and create a prime cultural, commercial and residential destination in the heart of Poole.”
